DEKALB COUNTY, GA — With dangerous heat in the forecast, multiple cooling centers are opening in the metro Atlanta area.
DeKalb County is encouraging all vulnerable citizens, including seniors, to seek relief from the extreme heat.
All centers are scheduled to remain open into next week, and transportation will be provided.
According to officials, cooling centers are available during normal operating hours at the following locations:
• South DeKalb Day Center at New Life Community Alliance – 3592 Flat Shoals Rd., Decatur
• Frontline Response International – 2585 Gresham Rd., Atlanta
• Peace Baptist Church Annex – 3999 Covington Highway, Decatur
• Golden Door Event Center – 2944 Ember Drive, Decatur
Residents are encouraged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during the afternoon and never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles.
In addition, free admission is available at the following outdoor pools and splash pads:

- Lithonia Park
- NH Scott Park
- Medlock Park
- Midway Park
- Tobie Grant Park
- Exchange Park Splash Pad
