Metro Atlanta school district launches new program for out-of-district students

COBB COUNTY, GA — Cobb County School District is opening enrollment at 12 of its schools to eligible students who live outside the district through a new initiative called Choose Cobb.

The program allows students to apply for available classroom seats at schools within four high school clusters for the upcoming spring semester.

Participating clusters include Kell, South Cobb, Allatoona and Harrison high schools. Each cluster includes an elementary and middle school that feeds into one of the four high schools.

District officials say openings are available across all grade levels, although the number of seats varies by school.

The initiative is designed to make use of available classroom space while generating additional revenue for participating schools through tuition payments.

Families accepted into the program will pay $600 per semester. There is no fee to submit an application.

Applications are currently open for the spring semester, with the deadline set for the end of November.
