DULUTH, GA — Duluth residents will need to keep new restrictions in mind when using lawn mowers, leaf blowers, chainsaws and other power equipment.
The city approved changes to its noise ordinance that limit when residents can use power tools and equipment.
Under the amended ordinance, the equipment can be used from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. On weekends and holidays, it can be used from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The ordinance also requires noise from the equipment to remain below 85 decibels which is about as loud as a kitchen blender or a vacuum cleaner.
City leaders say the changes were made to make sure neighborhoods remain respectful for everyone.
