HAPEVILLE, GA — A metro Atlanta police officer has resigned after being arrested in middle Georgia.
Police officials say 35-year-old Hapeville Police Sgt. Shada Canzater was arrested on assault and child cruelty charges.
Hapeville Police Chief Bruce Hedley says Canzater’s resignation is effective immediately.
Officials say Canzater was arrested by the Houston County Sheriff’s Office last month.
She posted a $5,000 bond.
