ATLANTA — MARTA riders who use long-term parking will pay more beginning Monday, Sept. 14, as the agency increases rates by $2 per day.
The changes do not affect MARTA’s existing free daily parking locations.
“If you’re a daily rider you don’t need to worry, it’s more for those who wish to park overnight or for an extended vacation,” MARTA’s Payson Schwin said.
Long-term parking at College Park, Doraville, Lindbergh and North Springs will increase to $10 per day. Rates at Dunwoody, Kensington, Lenox, Medical Center and Sandy Springs will increase to $7 per day.
“Some of our stations are increasing to $10 a day and those will be College Park which is very popular for parking to get to the airport, and Doraville, Lindbergh, and North Springs,” Schwin said.
MARTA is also reducing the amount of time riders can park for free in its gated lots from 24 hours to 14 hours.
“It’s been a long time since we’ve increased rates, and we’ve made recent upgrades to the automated park facilities, so this is kind of a new way to capture revenue to pay for those and other upgrades we’ve been making at the station,” Schwin said.
The additional revenue will support maintenance and future upgrades to MARTA’s parking facilities.
