CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA — An investigation is underway after police in Canton say a 14-year old girl was sexually assaulted after missing her school bus last Friday.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office says they arrested 42-year-old Raymond Sookram in connection with the incident.
According to officials, Sookram is accused of driving up in a truck and asking the girl if she needed a ride.
He is also accused of persuading the girl to get into his truck before he drove her to a location in Canton where the alleged sexual assault took place.
Sookram was charged with aggravated child molestation.
