DORAVILLE, GA — A man is in custody following a deadly shooting at a restaurant along Buford Highway early Sunday morning that left one person dead and two others injured.
Doraville police responded to reports of shots fired around midnight near Interstate 285.
When officers arrived, they spotted a blue pickup truck attempting to leave the area. Police conducted a traffic stop and detained the driver, identified as Daniel Roman-Cortez.
During the traffic stop, investigators say Roman-Cortez admitted to the shooting.
“I shot him, I killed him,” Roman-Cortez reportedly told officers.
Police later found the victim, identified as Pablo Gutierrez-Gallegos, outside a restaurant about a block away. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other people inside the restaurant were injured by flying glass caused by the gunfire.
According to investigators, Roman-Cortez told police he shot Gutierrez-Gallegos because he believed the victim was having an affair with his wife.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is also assisting Doraville police with the investigation.
