Major metro Atlanta attractions closing due to dangerously cold temperatures

Several attractions across metro Atlanta will shut down on Friday as an arctic blast heads toward the area.

WSB Meteorologist Christina Edwards says a wind chill warning has been issued for far north Georgia through noon on Saturday. A wind chill advisory is in effect for metro Atlanta.

Six Flags Over Georgia will close on Friday due to the below freezing temperatures in dangerous cold in the forecast. The theme park will remain closed through the Christmas holiday and reopen on Monday. Right now, Six Flags Over Georgia is open for Holiday in the Park from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. until January 1.

Stone Mountain Park says their park attractions and Christmas activities will be closed. The natural areas, campground and hotels will stay open.

Zoo Atlanta told WSB on Wednesday that it will also be closed due to the extreme cold.

“The safety, well-being, and comfort of the animals are the number-one priorities at Zoo Atlanta. As part of the Zoo’s regular, year-round animal safety protocols, the Animal Care Teams have plans in place for extreme temperatures and weather events,” the zoo said in a statement.
