ATLANTA — Another planned weekend closure of I-285 could impact drivers traveling along the westside Perimeter.
All northbound and southbound lanes of I-285 between Langford Parkway and Cascade Road are scheduled to close beginning at 7 p.m. Friday. Lanes are expected to reopen at 5 a.m. Monday.
Drivers should expect delays and consider alternate routes. I-20 and the Downtown Connector are among the alternatives.
The closure is part of an ongoing reconstruction and rehabilitation project. Crews will spend the weekend replacing concrete slabs that have not been restored in 60 years.
Periodic weekend shutdowns are expected over the next three years, with the project scheduled to be completed in 2028.
Rain in the forecast has caused the Georgia Department of Transportation to postpone previous weekend closures. As of Friday, this weekend’s work remains scheduled.
