Major I-285 closure this weekend: All lanes shutting down between Langford and Camp Creek parkways

ATLANTA — Drivers traveling through southwest Fulton County this weekend should prepare for major delays as another full closure of Interstate 285 is scheduled to begin Friday evening.

All northbound and southbound lanes of I-285 between Langford Parkway and Camp Creek Parkway will close at 7 p.m. Friday and remain shut down until 5 a.m. Monday.

The closure is part of a $206 million project to repair and replace concrete slabs along the Westside Perimeter.

Unlike traditional repaving, the project involves a complete replacement of the interstate’s concrete surface, requiring all lanes in both directions to close while crews work.

During the weekend shutdown, crews will continue milling and grinding concrete as part of the replacement process.

Drivers, including those operating tractor-trailers, will be directed to alternate routes along I-20 and the Downtown Connector.

Transportation officials warn that the detours will likely increase traffic volume and cause additional congestion on those highways. Motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time.

The multiyear project is expected to be completed in 2029, with several additional weekend closures planned in the coming weeks.
