Hosea Helps receives 1000 turkeys at turkey drop-off event

ATLANTA — With Thanksgiving just under three weeks away, Hosea Helps hosted the Great Turkey Drop-Off, a food drive to support metro area families this holiday season.

Hosea Helps received a thousand turkeys today from Publix and Kroger for their the drop off event.

Director of Development Elisabeth Omilami says the frozen turkeys are distributed to families on what they call their “guest list” of people they know are in dire need of food leading up to Thanksgiving.

“This really kicks off our season because our inventory on everything is low. Everything we get has to be from companies, foundations, individuals, and churches,” Omilami says.

Hosea Helps is asking for donations to come in by the 15th as a soft deadline for their food drive distribution on November 19th and they are also accepting donations Thanksgiving week to make hot meals and give out non-perishable food items.

They will host a drive-thru event ahead of Thanksgiving on the 22nd.

Finally, on the 27th Hosea Helps will be delivering hot meals to senior high rises, extended stay hotels, apartment complexes, neighborhoods, and the homeless around Atlanta.
