Largest fundraising campaign for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta underway

The largest fundraising campaign in the 107-year history of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is underway, and the hospital is hoping you will be a part of it.

Through the end of 2024, CHOA’s foundation hopes to raise $1 billion through public support.

“The whole vision, in total, is an investment of $3.4 billion, and Children’s is self-funding $2.4 billion,” says Foundation President Janine Musholt.

“We’re thankful for the generosity of the donors who make us able to provide these services. Philanthropic support is integral to providing the research that we need to find better treatment options today,” says Sara Orton, Dir. of Development for the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center.

She says the money will go towards a multitude of projects including the new $1.5 billion Arthur Blank Hospital on North Druid Hills Road. When the 19-story building opens in 2025, it will also house a new state-of-the-art cancer treatment facility—something WSB listeners have been raising money for the past 21 years.

Musholt tells WSB’s Sandra Parrish the money will also go towards teaching the next generation of pediatricians and CHOA’S investment in behavioral and mental health for the community.

So far, close to $700 million has been raised in the public campaign. And Musholt says they would love for as many people as possible to get involved in the effort from events like WSB’s annual Careathon to lemonade stands in local neighborhoods.

“Thousands of donors participate with us, but we want thousands, and thousands, and thousands more. And we know so many folks around the community love Children’s, and we’re hoping this is a way for them to sort of join us in celebration of this very special moment,” she says.
