A Cherokee County kennel owner wants hundreds of impounded dogs back.
Joy Wise, owner of Heavenly Kennel on Cumming Highway, requests a hearing to try to regain custody of more than 350 dogs and puppies seized last week. Authorities tell WSB, the animals were kept in filthy conditions.
The dogs are now being cared for at the Cherokee County Animal Shelter. Until this case is resolved, they cannot be adopted. The shelter seeks donations and has posted a wish list at www.amzn.to/1taDuSs
By law, the hearing must occur within 30 days and be open to the public.
Wise is also fighting citations, issued in May, for hundreds of infractions including animal cruelty and neglect. She's requested a jury trial, transferring her case to State Court in Cherokee County. She faces arraignment next month.
