Kemp defeats Cagle in the GOP runoff for the Georgia governor’s race

It was a festive night and the festivities started early at the Brian Kemp watch party in Athens.

Lt. Governor Casey Cagle called Kemp here at the Holiday Inn in Athens and conceded the race, which was a runaway victory for the Secretary of State.

Cagle conceded around 8:25… less than 90 minutes after the polls closed.

Kemp addressed the overflow crowd of more than 800 people in just a moment before speaking with reporters.

The results were overwhelming. Kemp jumped out to an early lead… and that lead kept growing. With about a third of the vote in.
