Inmates at Clarke Co jail test positive for COVID

Vaccinations now available in Madison Co

Five inmates at the Clarke County jail have tested positive for coronavirus: the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office says those inmates are now in isolation.

13 experts in various fields are on a new campus committee, one formed to help the University of Georgia navigate the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The Georgia Department of Public Health adds two more deaths to the coronavirus total in Oconee County, which now stands at 45. Clarke County has had 78 deaths attributed to COVID 19 since the pandemic began in March of last year.

On-site COVID 19 testing may soon be coming for employees at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport. Officials at the airport in Atlanta are in talks with vendors to see if the testing feasible. One of the airport’s parking lots was used as a mega testing site last summer.

The Health Department in Danielsville says the coronavirus vaccines that became available Thursday in Madison County are administered by appointment only.

Governor Brian Kemp says Georgia is closing in on 600 thousand coronavirus vaccinations, with another 55,000 doses administered Thursday.
