CLAYTON COUNTY, GA — An investigation is underway after an inmate at a metro Atlanta jail was accused in the death of another inmate.
Authorities say the preliminary investigation found that Jalen Leverette attacked Michael Hunt inside his cell in the jail’s mental health housing unit.
Leverette was charged with malice murder.
Hunt was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials.
Clayton County Sheriff’s deputies responded immediately after the incident was reported and secured the area.
Leverette was taken into custody and remains held at the facility.
The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is ongoing. Details about a potential motive has not been released.
