Gwinnett police search for cop impersonators

The Gwinnett County Police Department is looking for a couple of police impersonators who pulled over a Direct TV van mid-morning Monday and robbed the driver.

Cpl. Jake Smith tells WSB’s Sandra Parrish the van driver noticed the black Crown Victoria with flashing blue lights pull behind him on Hwy. 124 in the southern part of the county.  The victim then pulled over on Telida Trail.

“When the suspects got out, he began to feel like they were not actually detectives… they were both wearing blue jeans and t-shirts one of them wore a skull cap and the other one had dreadlocks,” says Smith.

Smith says a third suspect, a female with pink hair, remained in the suspects' car.

He says while one of the suspects pointed a gun at the victim’s head, the other removed tools from the back of the van.

The car then took off down Hwy. 124, but the victim could not tell in what direction.

Smith says there have been no other such incidents reported in Gwinnett County.

The two males suspects are both described as young black men.  One is 5’7” around 130 pounds with dreadlocks and the other is described as 5’4” also weighing around 130 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Gwinnett Police.
