Gwinnett County PD asks for public’s help in identifying suspect in quick change Kroger thefts

(LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga.) — The Gwinnett County Police Department is working to identify a male that has been committing what’s known as ‘quick change’ thefts at various Kroger stores over the last nine months.

Quick change theft usually occurs during a transaction when the suspect pays for a small-priced item with either a large bill or as the cashier is giving the suspect change back, the suspect then makes another request to exchange some larger bills for smaller ones. During the transaction, the suspect then confuses the cashier or causes a distraction and ends up leaving with more cash than they were owed.

Since late 2022, the unidentified suspect has traveled up and down the East Coast, hitting multiple Kroger locations. Included are two stores in Loganville and Grayson, both in Gwinnett County.

If you or anyone you know has information to share in this case, please contact GCPD detectives at +1 (770) 513-5300, or online at www.stopcrimeatl.com. The case number is 23-0011268.

Detectives request the public’s help in identifying the male. He’s described as a white male, full dark beard, black leather jacket, and a dark-colored ballcap.
