ATLANTA — State law enforcement officials are reminding everyone to follow the rules of the road if you’re driving for the holidays.
Captain Maurice Raines, Deputy Director of the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety says they have zero tolerance for drunk driving.
“We want everyone to have their family member at the table having dinner, having a good time, and having fun, because no one made the decision to drive impaired,” Raines said.
Lt. Ed Starling with the Georgia State Patrol says they will have extra troopers on the roads over the next week to make sure drivers are following the law.
Last year, Georgia state law enforcement says it issued 10,000 citations to drivers during the holiday travel period between Christmas and News Years.
AAA projects 3.4 million Georgians will drive to their holiday destinations this year. Officials are reminding everyone to buckle up, slow down, and don’t drink and drive.
