Georgia pre-K teacher arrested on murder charge in connection to 46-year-old man’s death

An Augusta pre-kindergarten teacher is accused of murder, according to WJBF-TV.

On Monday, WSB′s affiliate WJBF-TV reported that Stephanie Renee Overton, 38, was named in arrest warrants as a co-conspirator in the shooting death of Ahmed Jabari Hill, 46.

Richmond County Sheriff’s Office also arrested Angel Burley, 40, and charged her with murder.

He was taken to the Augusta University Medical Center ER, where he died from his injuries.

Gunfire erupted on Sunday in the 3500 block of Tullocks Hill Drive in Augusta. WJBF-TV reported that Hill was allegedly hit by a bullet in his right leg.

Overton was arrested and taken to the Charles B. Webster Detention Center.

Overton is listed on Lake Forest Hills Elementary School’s website as a pre-kindergarten teacher.

Richmond County School System told WJBF that Overton will be placed on administrative leave once she is released from jail.

Additional personnel actions may be taken against Overton pending the results of a state licensing board inquiry.

“We take the actions of our students and staff seriously and do our best to ensure that our classrooms are focused on teaching and learning,” a Richmond County School System spokesperson said in a statement.
