(ATLANTA, Ga.) — On Thursday, the Georgia State House of Representatives put the rubber stamp on Gov. Brian Kemp’s proposal to refund Georgian taxpayers with over $1 billion in taxes from 2022.
Single taxpayers and married taxpayers filing individually should expect $250, heads of household $375, and couples filing jointly $500.
The refunds come after the third consecutive year of a budget surplus in Georgia, where spending stayed underneath and revenues exceeded projections.
A major difference this year comes for younger Georgians who claim as dependents. Working high schoolers and other dependents can now claim the $250 tax refund.
The bill will move on to the Georgia State Senate for consideration, and if it passes then on to the Governor’s desk.
