GDOT warns of long delays on roads and at airports for spring break travelers

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Travelers who plan to hit the road Friday were warned to expect traffic on the roads and in the air.

Friday marks most metro Atlanta students’ last day of school before taking a week off for spring break.

According to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), Friday between 3 and 6 p.m. will be the worst time to be on the roads as over 330,000 people are expected to travel.

GDOT said this is also expected to be the busiest day at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, so travelers are advised to plan accordingly.

This prediction was made after GDOT compared data from previous spring break weekends.

Airport officials said over four million passengers are expected to travel through Hartsfield-Jackson from March 26 until April 9.
