Full closure of I-285 in metro Atlanta scheduled this weekend

ATLANTA — The Georgia Department of Transportation announced all northbound and southbound lanes on I-285 in southwest Fulton County, weather permitting.

The closures are a continuation of the $206 million project I-285 Westside Rebuild concrete slab reconstruction and rehabilitation project currently ongoing along the westside of the I-285 corridor.

The project stretches from State Route (SR) 14/South Fulton Parkway in College Park to Collier Road, GDOT officials said.

The scheduled lane closures are scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday, November 6 through 5 a.m. on Monday, November 9:

I-285 northbound:

All lanes closed between SR 166/Langford Parkway (exit 5) and Camp Creek Parkway (exit 2)

I-285 southbound:

All lanes closed between Camp Creek Parkway (exit 2) and SR 166/Langford Parkway (exit 5)

“Crews will be milling/grinding the roadway concrete in preparation to repair or replace the concrete slabs through the project area. Lane closures are necessary to provide sufficient space for crews to work safely and to protect motorists while large equipment is in operation,” Georgia Department of Transportation officials said.

Motorists are urged to pay close attention to shifting and changing travel infrastructure along the I-285 corridor.

Motorists should also allow significant additional travel time during these closures and seek alternate routes if possible.

GDOT officials say roadside message boards and signage will alert drivers in advance of lane shifts and closures.
