(JEFFERSON, Ga.) — In a story heard first here on WSB, the mother of the late Tripp Halstead, who was struck in the head by a tree limb ten years ago, regained control and administrator’s privileges for her son’s Facebook page.
“We got Tripp’s page back!” she shared in a video posted to the page. Three weeks ago, the 1.2 million followers of the page awoke to find that the page had been hacked.
The hackers had asked for a ransom of 5,000 dollars, but after the story gained traction on WSB, a Facebook employee took notice and forwarded the story to the correct department.

When Stacy Halstead tried for the next time to verify her identity, Facebook accepted the request and passed administrators’ control back to her and her husband.
