ATLANTA — The Atlanta Falcons have named Michael Penix Jr. the starting quarterback for the Week 3 matchup against the Green Bay Packers on Thursday Night Football.
Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski made the announcement on Monday that Penix Jr. would start after the Falcons suffered an embarrassing 34-3 home loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
Penix Jr. missed the first two games of the 2026 season as he recovered from knee surgery.
The Falcons offense struggled with Cooper Rush at quarterback against the Pittsburg Steelers, losing 20-13 with an interception returned for a touchdown.
