ATLANTA — Everton Blair has won the special election runoff to represent Georgia’s 13th Congressional District, defeating Marcye Scott by a 54% to 46% margin.
The congressional seat had been vacant since April following the death of Congressman David Scott.
Scott represented the 13th District for more than two decades, serving from 2003 until his death earlier this year. The district includes portions of Gwinnett, DeKalb, Clayton, Henry, Rockdale and Newton counties.
His daughter, Marcye Scott, ran to fill her father’s seat and advanced to the runoff against Blair.
Blair ultimately won the race with 54% of the vote compared with Scott’s 46% and will represent the 13th District in Washington.
