FULTON COUNTY, GA — An inmate who escaped from the Fulton County Jail is back in custody following a brief manhunt.
Officials issued a “be on the lookout” message after they were unable to find Demetrius Burkes at the Rice Street jail.
Burkes was found less than two hours after the search began. He was wearing a blue paper gown when he was located.
Burkes was booked into the facility earlier this summer on charges of felony theft and criminal trespass.
County officials have not said how Burkes managed to escape from the jail.
