Emory University admits to misrepresenting student information to groups that rank colleges. WSB'S Sabrina Gibbons reports the deception may have gone on for a decade.
Emory launched an investigation in May 2012, after the new Dean of Admissions discovered discrepancies. They found the school overstates test scores, may have excluded scores of the bottom 10 percent of students and my have overstated class rankings. Two former Admissions Deans and leadership in the Office of Institutional Research were aware of the misreporting. Emory University officials say those involved no longer work at the school
There is no way of knowing if the college was over ranked because of the misrepresentation.
