Early morning truck fire shuts down parts of I-85

A tractor-trailer driver was hospitalized with burns after his truck caught fire on Interstate 85 Tuesday morning.

The truck fire broke out on I-85 southbound near Pleasantdale Road in DeKalb County around 4:30 a.m.

According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, the truck was carrying 36,000 pounds of chewing gum additive.

Four lanes of the interstate were blocked for more than an hour, causing minor delays, but lanes reopened around 6:15 a.m.

The truck driver's condition is not known.
