Driver dead, passenger hurt in crash involving stolen car on Ga. 400

A driver is dead and a passenger is injured after a crash involving a stolen car on Ga. 400 early Tuesday morning, officials said.

Sandy Springs police pursued the stolen vehicle northbound on Ga. 400 shortly after 2 a.m., according to Georgia State Patrol spokeswoman Lt. Stephanie Stallings.

The driver made an “erratic lane change” while taking the Northridge Road exit and left the roadway, she said. The car hit several trees during the incident.

The injured passenger is undergoing surgery at an Atlanta hospital, Stallings said. Sandy Springs police took two other passengers into custody, she said. Their names were not released.

The investigation closed the Northridge Road exit and entrance ramps for more than four hours, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
