DeKalb school police surround high school after reports of threats

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Reports of a threat of a school shooting at Stephenson High School circulated on social media over the weekend.

Several DeKalb County School District police vehicles surrounded the school on Monday.

In a letter sent to parents at the high school and Stephenson Middle School, Principal Michael Jones said that administrators were aware of the threat and that police were investigating the matter.

Jones said that the schools would be taking extra precautions, including increased patrol, to make sure students and staff at the school are safe.

School district officials told Channel 2 that the school will be on lockdown until students are dismissed at the end of the day.

Officials said that police have not found any weapons on the school’s campus.
