DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Police are looking for a man who they say robbed someone at a gas station air pump, shot him, and then drove off in the victim’s van.
DeKalb County Police initially told Channel 2 Action News that the man was dead, but then issued a correction, saying he is alive and in surgery.

The victim, who has not been identified, was found near a Valero gas station at the intersection of Redan and Panola roads. Crime scene tape was strung up in front of the gas station.
The shooter has not been caught, police said.
Channel 2′s Tyisha Fernandes spoke to store clerks who said the suspect had been in the store before and was there today for about two hours before the shooting.
Police said the victim was in bad shape when he was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Lonnie Glover lives nearby and drives by the Valero gas station and store often.
“There’s been a couple of shootings over in that parking lot,” he said.
The store clerks gave Channel 2 a surveillance video that shows what happened. In it, the suspect can be seen with a mask covering part of his face. He entered the store around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, about two hours before the shooting.
He walked around outside for a while, stood at the door and sat down inside the store for a bit, but he never bought anything.
Just after 9 a.m., the suspect walked across the parking lot toward the driver of a white van.
About two minutes later, the suspect walked over to the driver’s side where police said he robbed and shot the driver and stole the van.
“I’ve been in this area for a long time. Everybody around here pretty much knows each other and other than a few that come around and want to start trouble,” Glover said.
Several witnesses ran over to help the victim before he was transported to the hospital. Police haven’t released his name but did told Channel 2 he’s a man in his 50′s.
The store clerks told Fernandes they heard one shot only.
