Coweta police searching for serial bank robber

Coweta County authorities are looking for a serial bank robber who is believed to have hit at least half a dozen banks in the past three years in metro Atlanta.

Investigator Chad McDonald tells WSB the latest robbery happened on Tuesday at a Wells Fargo in Newnan.  He says in most of the robberies, two things are consistently with her.

"The female was wearing a very distinctive hat.  It was a black hat that had the word Atlanta written across it in white letters.  She was carrying a tan or beige in colored bag, a very large bag," said McDonald.

McDonald says she is not always successful, but she is persistent.  She has hit Wells Fargo banks in Roswell, one of them twice, a bank in Fairburn, one off of Alpharetta Highway, and another in College Park.

McDonald says in the latest robbery, she passed a threatening note to the teller.

She has all the motivation to keep doing it because she hasn't been caught," said McDonald.

Several surveillance photos from several different robberies are being are being made public in hopes that someone recognizes the woman.

Wells Fargo is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.
