Man hit, killed trying to cross I-75 on foot, police say

MARIETTA, Ga. — Police say a man was killed after he was hit by a car on I-75 Friday night.

Marietta Police said the accident happened on I-75 south at Delk Road around 9:30 p.m.

Early Townsend, 61, was killed when a Chevrolet Trax hit him as he tried to cross the highway on foot.

The Chevrolet was driven by 26-year-old Iyesha Morris of Austell.

Police are not sure why Townsend was walking across the highway. The accident is still under investigation.
