Cobb County students face consequences for nation-wide walkout

Cobb County students are facing discipline considering last week's National School Walkout.

District officials announced before the planned walk on March 14th that any student taking part would face school discipline.

CCSD later announced that individual schools would determine the consequences students would face.

Students are now finding out their punishments this week.

At North Cobb High School for example, students will serve ISS (In School Suspension), with several already taking part on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Walton High School students who took part will need to report to Saturday school. District Spokesman John Stafford says Saturday school is regularly held and is a regularly-scheduled option for high school discipline.

The nationwide walkout was organized to mark the one-month anniversary of the mass shooting at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida that killed 17 people.
