Cobb County approves temporary ban on new data centers

COBB COUNTY, GA — Cobb County commissioners have approved a 180-day moratorium on accepting new rezoning and permit applications for data centers.

Commissioners say the pause will allow the county to update its regulations for the massive facilities.

The county is also waiting to see what state lawmakers decide on the issue.

The decision follows similar moves by several other metro Atlanta communities amid concerns from residents about the centers’ impacts.
