A Henry County man, suspected of molesting the 15-year-old daughter of a friend, has been arrested. The father of the victim contacted police in July about the alleged improper sexual relationship.
45-year-old William Leonard Abbatte, who turned himself in on Thursday, is a professional shooter and acted as a coach to victim, even traveling with her shooting team to various states.
While police think the incident occurred at Abbate's McDonough home and at his farm property in Butts County, other incidents are believed to have taken place in other states over the past year.
Officers searched Abbate's home and farm property and evidence recovered supported statements made by the victim.
He has been charged with child molestation, aggravated child molestation, enticing a child for indecent pursposes, sexual exploitation of children, and statutory rape.
Abbate may face charges in other jurisidictions.
