Corrections officer fired after calling suicidal inmate racial slur, sheriff says

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — A Clayton County corrections officer has been fired for using a racial slur against an inmate was who suicidal, Sheriff Victor Hill said Sunday.

Officer Gregory Hubert Brown was placed on leave without pay Sunday after Hill he called an inmate suffering a mental health crisis a “crazy N-word” in front of other inmates and another corrections officer.

Hill said Brown will be fired within the next 72 hours by order of the sheriff.
