ATLANTA — The City of Atlanta has again tabled the vote to implement a curfew for teens.
The Atlanta Public Safety Committee held a meeting Monday afternoon to consider the proposal from Councilmember Keisha Waites.
She’s proposing a curfew that would ban children 17 years old or younger from being out in public without adult supervision after 7 p.m.
The proposal follows the November murder of 12-year-old Zyion Charles near Atlantic Station.
Waites initially proposed the legislation in November 2022, but the vote was tabled.
In January, Waites said the council decided to table the legislation again because they need more crime data and have concerns about the constitutional rights of young people.
