ATLANTA — A new CDC report finds more frequent marijuana users are increasingly showing up in emergency rooms with a condition linked to severe nausea and vomiting.
Researchers identified nearly 200,000 emergency room visits related to cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome.
Officials say it is a condition associated with habitual marijuana use, between January 2023 and May 2026.
The condition can cause repeated episodes of intense nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
The CDC says recorded cases have increased as marijuana use has become more common.
Researchers say the findings highlight the need for greater awareness among patients and healthcare providers about the dangers of drug use.
