The funeral for former Georgia Bulldog All-American Bill Stanfill is set for today, 2 o'clock this afternoon at the First United Methodist Church in Albany. Stanfill, who won two Super Bowls as a member of the Miami Dolphins, was from Cairo. He died last week at the age of 69. Stanfill, a 1968 All-American, died in hospice care in Albany, according to Jason Butt of the Macon Telegraph, after health complications from a recent fall. On Nov. 8, Rivals' Anthony Dasher tweeted that Stanfill was "very ill."
A former Outland Trophy winner, Stanfill was on two SEC title teams in his four-year career from 1966-68. Stanfill was a three-time All-SEC honoree with the Bulldogs.
He went on to be the 11th-overall pick by the Miami Dolphins in the 1969 NFL draft. With Miami, he finished second for AFL Rookie of the Year and went on to win two Super Bowls. He was a member of the 1972 Dolphins team that was the only pro football team in modern history to finish the season undefeated.
