Deputies say a Barrow County man fatally shot a woman and an 11-year-old girl Monday night before turning the gun on himself.
Investigators in Barrow County were dispatched to a home near the 1800 block of Celestial Run on Monday after receiving a call about two people arguing shortly before 8 p.m.
Officers said the caller told dispatch that she was on the phone with Rachel Hollifield, 34, when she heard gunshots and the call got quiet.
When they arrived at the scene, officers were able to make contact with Hollifield who told them Leonard Ahearn, 59, had shot her in her hand and then turned the gun on himself.
While speaking with Hollifield, officers learned an 11-year-old was in the home as well.
As officers searched the home, they located Ahearn and the 11-year-old girl, Angelique Ahearn, both with gunshot wounds.
According to officers, Angelique Ahearn was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officer said Leonard Ahearn and Hollifield were in the middle of an argument when Ahearn left to retrieve a gun. When he returned, Ahearn shot Angelique, found Hollifield in the home, shot her, then shot himself.
Leonard Ahearn and Hollifield were transported to a local hospital. Leonard Ahearn died from his injures. Hollifield is still receiving treatment and is expected to recover.
The investigation is ongoing.
