Thousands attend several ‘No Kings’ protests across metro Atlanta

ATLANTA — Several “No Kings” protests are scheduled throughout parts of Georgia this weekend, including across the metro Atlanta area.

Many demonstrators attended the “No Kings” protest and march at the Georgia State Capitol where thousands of demonstrators are expected to join. There are guest speakers, performers and more expected.

Atlanta police said they are preparing to manage the crowds while supporting citizens’ right to assemble.

In a statement issued Friday, the Atlanta Police Department said it “fully supports the public’s right to peaceful assembly” and confirmed it will actively monitor the planned demonstrations to ensure the safety of participants and local residents."

One of the scheduled protests in Atlanta began at 10 a.m. and centered around the Civic Center. The other protest happened on Peachtree Road and Club Drive in Buckhead.

Police officials urge attendees to follow all safety guidelines and directions from officers on-site.
