Atlanta man in Medicare fraud scheme

An Atlanta man pleads guilty in federal court in Baton Rouge for his role in a medicare fraud scheme.

Sixty-one year old Fred Belcher admitted working as a recruiter for three Louisiana companies that submitted $1.5 million in phony bills to Medicare from 2004 to 2009. The claims included purchase of power wheelchairs, arm and leg braces, and other medical equipment.

Belcher could get up to 10 years in federal prison, and a $250,000 fine.
