Atlanta Police are hoping that surveillance video will lead to an arrest of a man who held up a jewelry store at Atlantic Station Wednesday morning.
Officer John Chafee tells WSB a man, armed with a gun, entered Kay Jewelers around 10:45 asking where the engagement rings were. He ordered them to the floor, after binding their hands.
"He then removed a set of keys from one of the employees, opened several display cases, and took approximately $300,000 worth of jewelry before leaving the scene," said Chafee.
Chafee says it's too early to tell if the suspect is responsible for other crimes in the area but they are concerned his violence could escalate.
"This was a very bold crime, 10:45 in the morning. It's obviously daylight out. There are going to be a number of people in that area, so this is a pretty bold crime. We'd like to get this guy off the streets," said Chafee.
An up to $2,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest in the case.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Crime Stoppers Atlanta tip line at 404-577-TIPS.
