Woman shot, alleged shooter wasn’t found inside home after SWAT standoff

ATLANTA — A man wanted for shooting a woman in the leg has not been caught hours after a standoff in southwest Atlanta.

Police responded to 1939 Shepherd Circle around 6:19 p.m. after getting a call about a person shot.

They found a woman shot in the leg. She went to the hospital for treatment.

Police blocked off part of the neighborhood for hours. Doorbell camera video shared with McCowan showed SWAT team officers running through a yard.

The standoff ended overnight. Police said that the man was not inside the house and they are still looking for him.

No description of the shooter has been released.
