CLAYTON COUNTY, GA — Clayton County is considering a millage rate increase that would add roughly $100 a year to the average property tax bill.
The proposed increase would generate nearly $7.8 million, according to Clayton County Chief Financial Officer Terry Jackson.
Most of that money would go toward salaries, including a cost-of-living increase for county employees and the addition of about a dozen firefighter and paramedic positions.
“Also included, we have additional hirings for six paramedic sergeants, and six firefighter EMTs,” Jackson said.
A final decision on the proposed millage rate increase is not expected for another few weeks.
Another public meeting on the proposed increase is scheduled for Sept. 24.
