AMBER ALERT: Stolen SUV found, but 1-year-old still missing

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities in DeKalb County said they have found the stolen SUV but not the child inside that sparked an Amber Alert.

Blaise Barnett was inside a grey 2002 Ford Explorer with “tag applied for” sign in the back window when it was taken in Clarkston. The tag number is: P2722946. It was found around 11:45 a.m. along Memorial College Avenue.

Clarkston police said the boy’s family was unloading groceries at 1000 Montreal Road around 1 a.m. Wednesday when the SUV was stolen with him still inside.

The FBI and other law enforcement agencies are searching for the boy.

The boy’s mother told Channel 2 Action News she went inside of her home for around 30 seconds and by the time she came back outside, her SUV was gone with Blaise inside.

“I ran downstairs and I’m like, ‘no not my baby, no,’” the boy’s mother said.

She said the car was unlocked but not running.

Blaise was last seen wearing a black shirt with blue dinosaurs, a diaper, no pants and was wrapped in a blanket.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has issued an Amber Alert for this case.

If you see the child, you’re asked to call Clarkston police at 404-557-8956.
