ATLANTA — Artificial intelligence is becoming a larger part of the curriculum at Georgia’s technical colleges as demand for knowledge of the technology continues to grow.
Technical College System of Georgia Commissioner Greg Dozier said the system is being asked to incorporate artificial intelligence education into a variety of programs.
“AI is something we’re getting asked for, and so as we look at it we’re at least putting in just about every pathway whether its healthcare, advanced manufacturing, we’re putting in at least a literacy of AI on how to use it,” Dozier said.
Dozier compared the growing need for artificial intelligence literacy to the demand for education on using Microsoft products during the 1990s. He expects demand for artificial intelligence education to continue growing over the next several years.
“I think in just about every field, especially in our technical colleges, AI plays a part,” Dozier said.
The Technical College System of Georgia is adding artificial intelligence literacy to its degree offerings, including programs in fields such as health care and advanced manufacturing.
Dozier said learning how to use the technology effectively and efficiently is becoming increasingly important.
“I believe right now we’re at a spot with AI that we at least know how to use it and maximize it for effectiveness and efficiency,” Dozier said.
