CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Clayton County police confirm to WSB Radio an elderly woman suffering from dementia who was kidnapped from a Jonesboro convenience store parking lot during a carjacking, has been found safe. She was found at a business along Howell Mill Road in Atlanta.
Earlier in the day Thursday, police said Shirley Jenkins McCurry, 86, was sitting inside an SUV at the Lucky Food Mart on North Main Street in Jonesboro just before 3:30 p.m. when it was stolen.
Surveillance video shows the suspect dressed in all tan clothing and red and black shoes. He is also carrying a black backpack.
McCurry could be seen rolling down the passenger window and appearing to speak with the suspect. He then gets into the driver seat and drives away from the store.
The car is described as a gray 2016 Nissan Rogue with Georgia license plate CTW6796.
Police say the search continues for both the suspect and the SUV.
